Tony Berns Executive Director, Tony Berns

Tony Berns joined the LCDC as Executive Director in December, 2001. He was born and raised in the Cincinnati area, graduating from the University of Idaho with BS and MS degrees in Forestry. Prior to joining the LCDC, Tony worked for 20 years in the industrial Forest Products business sector, living in the northwest (Idaho, Oregon and Montana), the southeast (Texas) and the northeast (Connecticut and Maine). His business background includes operations management, corporate planning, organizational leadership and development.

 

 

 

  Denny

Denny Davis, Chairman

Denny Davis is an Idaho native and graduate of the University of Idaho, College of Law.  He has practiced law in Coeur d'Alene since moving here from southern Idaho in 1978 and is a shareholder and Coeur d'Alene managing attorney for the law firm of Witherspoon, Kelley, Davenport & Toole.  His practice emphasizes real estate, business and corporate law.  Mr. Davis served as an Idaho State Senator from 1989 to 1994.  Prior to that time, he served several years as a Coeur d'Alene Planning & Zoning Commissioner.  Mr. Davis has also served on the Idaho Permanent Building Fund Advisory Council, Idaho Judicial Council, the University of Idaho Research Park and Northern Idaho Advisory Boards, was a founding board member of the Human Rights Education Institute, Inc. and has completed two terms as legal counsel to the Coeur d'Alene Area Chamber of Commerce.  Mr. Davis was appointed in 2005 to a term on the board of the Lake City Development Corporation, presently serving as its chair.

  Jim Elder

Jim Elder, Vice Chairman

Jim is a native of Coeur d'Alene.  After retiring from a successful business career, Jim, and his wife Helen, returned to Coeur d'Alene in 2000.  In addition to serving on the Lake City Development Corporation, Jim is Mayor of Fernan, a member of various boards, including CASA, Concerned Businesses of North Idaho and the Coeur d'Alene Library Foundation. In addition, he is a member of the Partnership Council for the Inland Northwest Community Foundation. He has served as president of the Coeur d'Alene Rotary Club, Concerned Businesses of North Idaho and the Library Foundation.  He and his wife own Cricket's Bar and Grill in downtown Coeur d'Alene.

Jim is a graduate of the University of Maryland and American University with degrees in marketing and business.

  Rod Coldwell

Rod Colwell

Director, Executive Vice President, and Chief Credit Officer of the Bank.  Mr. Colwell has 31 years of banking experience, including 11 years with The First National Bank of North Idaho (FNB).  His most recent position with FNB was Vice President and Manager.  Prior to that, he was employed for 3 years with Idaho First National Bank.  Mr. Colwell received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Idaho in 1977 and graduated from Commercial Lending Graduate School in 1988.  Mr. Colwell has been active in both civic and professional organizations, which include service as a member and past President of the Hayden Rotary Club, past Board member of Coeur d’Alene Homes, Commissioner of the Lake City Development Corporation, a member of the Idaho Bankers Association Trust Committee, and a member of the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce.

  Charlie Nipp

Charlie Nipp

Charlie Nipp is an owner, developer, and manager of commercial real estate projects located primarily in Idaho.  Charlie started creating and developing commercial properties in 1978 and is involved in the management and ownership of Parkwood Business Properties.  He graduated from Whitworth College in 1967 with a degree in Business Administration, and received his Masters Degree from Portland State University in 1971.

Charlie has been very active in a variety of civic organizations in Idaho and the Northwest.  He is a Past President of the Kootenai Medical Center Foundation, the Coeur d’Alene Area Chamber of Commerce, and Job’s Plus (an economic development corporation); and a former director of both Bank of America, Idaho and of the LifeCenter Northwest Donor Network.  Charlie is currently the Chairman of the Board of Mountain West Bank, and a commissioner of the Lake City Development Corporation.

  Deanna

Deanna Goodlander

Deanna Lee Goodlander was born and raised in the City of Coeur d’Alene.  Her father, Orrin Lee, was the first President of North Idaho College (NIC).  She attended NIC, the University of Idaho, and graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Communications.  Starting her service to the City Council in 1998, Goodlander serves as Chairman of the General Services Committee, Board member and Treasurer of Panhandle Area Council, City Council liaison to the Arts Commission,City Council liaison to the Library Board, and a member of the Lake City Development Corporation Board.

Goodlander partners with her son, Philip, in various business interests and enjoys her work with the city. She is a JC International Senator (the first woman so honored in Idaho) and is a past JCI Senate President. She has chaired the Kootenai County Junior Miss Program and the Coeur d'Alene Junior Miss Program. Goodlander is a Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce Commodore and was recognized as the 1992 Citizen of the Year by the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce. She is a board member of the Lake City Senior Center.

  Al Hassell

Al Hassell

A.J. "Al" Hassell, III is no stranger to Coeur d'Alene City Government and is currently serving his second 4-year term since re-election in 2003. He served as City Councilman from 1986 to 1994, and served as Mayor from 1994-1998. During his tenure as Councilman, Al served on both the General Services and Public Works Committees, and on the Coeur d'Alene Parks and Recreation Commission. He is currently serving as Chairman of the Public Works Committee, and board member of both the KMPO (Kootenai Metropolitan Planning Organization), and the LCDC (Coeur d'Alene's Urban Renewal Agency).

Al is a former board member of the Jobs Plus Board, the Kootenai County 911 Joint Powers Board, the Kootenai County Perspectives Board, and the Kootenai County EMS Advisory Board. He currently serves on the Seed-Time Board, is President of the Idaho Character Council, and a Deacon for Candlelight Christian Fellowship Church.

A Chartered Financial Consultant, Al is the Managing Member of Anderson Hassell LLC, dba Anderson Hassell Insurance & Financial Services. Raised in Spokane, Washington, he's been a businessman in Coeur d'Alene since 1970.

  Dave Patzer

Dave Patzer

Born and raised in Coeur d Alene. Dave has an Associates degree from North Idaho College, then earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of  Idaho.  Dave also served his country proudly as a pilot in the United States Navy from 1976-1982.  After his duty was up in 1982 Dave entered into the petroleum business in North Idaho and has been in it since then.  Currently he is the VP and General Manager of Kerr Oil Company.  Dave was appointed to the LCDC board in 1997. 

Married to Jena Hayenga, they have two children, a son Mason and daughter Makendra.

 

  Scott Hoskins

Scott Hoskins

Scott Hoskins is the Local Manager for Verizon Communications Network Operations for North Idaho and Eastern Washington.  He has worked for Verizon for over 31 years throughout the Northwest and Alaska.  He has been married for 25 wonderful years, has a daughter attending WSU, and a son in Coeur d’Alene High School.  Scott has been the recipient of the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce Ed Abbott Memorial Award, Kootenai County United Way Volunteer of the Year, Idaho Education Association’s Friend of Education Award and 2 Verizon Presidential Leadership awards.  He is currently active in Jobs Plus Board of Directors, US Bank Advisory Board, and Verizon’s Political Action Committee.  Scott’s past involvement has been with: Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Kootenai County United Way Board of Directors, School District 271 Long Range Planning Committee, and The Festival of Sandpoint Board of Directors.  In 1998 Scott designed and implemented a literacy program for the public schools in Coeur d’Alene known as the Help Encourage A Reader Today (HEART) Reading Program.  The program teams a caring adult with at risk children to improve literacy and life skills.  Currently the program is in 5 school districts in Northern Idaho and over 20 elementary schools. 

  Brad jordan

Brad Jordan

Brad is a native of Coeur d’Alene and a lifetime resident of the Coeur d’Alene area.  Brad obtained his real estate license in 1979 and has engaged in a wide variety of aspects in the real estate business over the years including sales management, marketing, leasing and development.  Brad has a long history of involvement in the community and currently serves as chairman of the Coeur d’Alene Planning and Zoning Commission in addition to his duties on the LCDC board of directors.  Brad and his wife of 26 years, Debra, have two daughters.
